Ancient Egypt Wars

Ancient Egypt was a busy time, Egypt faced the thread of invaders from all around the place but most notably, from within their own country!

As you can imagine, Egypt is surrounded by desert and as such, attacking them would be quite a hard task for an ancient army. Trekking across the desert in all that heavy gear, not like the planes and cars of today! Egypt was a peaceful place, although not all the time. The people within the county fought between themselves, as they could not decide on who was going to be in charge of the country itself. Who needs enemies when your country turns on it self?

However, when they were not at war with themselves, they did occasionally have the threat of other countries invading but they sometimes went ahead and invaded other countries themselves! Busy lot these Egyptians are they not? Fighting themselves, being attacked, attacking other countries, phew. They must be worn out!

So, I hear you ask what did their army wear when they went graciously into battle. Well, I’ll tell you. The average man in the Egyptian military wore no armor, only a shield made out of wood and a bronze-tipped spear. Brave lot!
It has been speculated though, that the Egyptian military didn’t do a lot of their fighting, it is alleged that they actually hired mercenaries (People who will fight wars for money) to do their dirty work for them! It has been proven though, that they hired Greek soldiers to help them when the people of Egypt were trying to break free of Persian rule all the way back in 4-500BC.

Well, you know how what the army wore, what they did and how they did it (Lazily!) There is not much else I can teach you about Egyptian warfare all the way back in those days, all you need to know is, they were a fierce bunch and very rarely lost!
